Remembering 1914-15
An evening remembering the choir's first year with World War I songs and poetry and a performance of Dvorak's Mass in D.

Click here to download the flyerWilfred OwenThe opening concert for our centenary season reflects on the events at the start of World War I that sowed the seeds of what was to become Wimbledon Choral Society.  You can read about this in detail on our History page.   The very first work performed in March 1915 after the formal establishment of the choir was Dvorak's Stabat Mater.   Tonight's programme includes Dvorak's Mass in D, John Ireland's Greater Love, the Agnus Dei from Britten's War Requiem and readings of some of the poems written during and about the devastation of World War I, including some by Wilfred Owen. 

We are delighted to welcome actress Emily Bevan as the narrator and soloists Susan Jiwey (soprano), Helen Bruce (mezzo), Gareth Treseder (tenor) and Jamie Hall (baritone).
