Wimbledon Choral Society
Library : Rehearsal Aids in MIDI format
(Puccini's Messa di Gloria)
This work may be familiar to some of you but for many this will be the first time that they have sung it. If you haven't got a CD or cassette tape of the Requiem, then a highly recommended version of it is the one by the Ambrosian Chorus and Philharmonia Orchestra, directed by Claudio Simone, with José Carreras as the tenor soloist. It is produced by Erato Disques and the catalogue no. is 0630-17913-2.
If you don't wish to purchase a live recording then there's an alternative here for you. If your PC has the capability to play MIDI sound files then interpretations of the seven movements which make up the work have been loaded to this website and can be downloaded from the links below. If you are not sure if your PC can play MIDI or you need to know what to do to enable it to handle MIDI then click here for some more information on this.
By clicking on the required link below, the relevant part of the Requiem will be downloaded to your disk. The versions here are electronic in creation and in sound, and do not contain all the instrumentation, but are only designed to give you the flavour of the music.
