Together with St. Bartholomew's Hospital Choir (Barts Choir, for short), Wimbledon Choral Society was asked to supply singers for a recording of a special series of Songs of Praise called Unsung Heroes. The programmes were broadcast on Sundays 6th, 13th & 20th February 2005. As part of our close link with Croydon Philharmonic Choir, we offered their members the opportunity to join with us on this fun (yet tiring!) occasion which was spread over two nights of recording in the London Symphony Orchestra's (LSO) St. Luke's Centre on Old Street in The City. WCS & CPC ended up with around 90 singers between them which was more than half of the choir. We were delighted to receive a call from the BBC a year later to say that the first series had been so successful that they were going to repeat it with a follow up series and would we like to come back. Silly question! Of course we could and of course we did! |
