Members' Library
The Library is split into two sections. The first section contains information and details about forthcoming events planned either as part of the choir's normal season or by other organisations/choirs in which members of the choir are welcome to take part. Where events are organised by third parties, basic details are given but further information must be obtained from the relevant organisers who hold final responsibility for their respective events. Where known, links to websites containing details about these events will be provided.
The second section contains copies of documents relating to the choir's business and operation like past newsletters. It also has some photos of the choir in action and a few silly items for fun.
Comments on the contents of this library are welcome (from both members and non-members). Please e-mail them to The Boss (or send them by snail mail) who will take every comment into consideration.

If you would like to find out more about the excellent annual Cranleigh Choral Week course based at Cranleigh School in Surrey every summer then click here or on the logo to the left. Previously held in Harrogate, this course transferred to the splendid facilities of Cranleigh School in 2007. The 2008 course will take place from Sunday 10th August through to Sunday 17th August 2008 and the main end of course work to be performed in Guildford Cathedral will be Vaughan Williams' stunning A Sea Symphony and Stanford's delightful Songs of the Fleet. There are several different options for participating in the course and discounted rates are available in some circumstances. See the website for full details by clicking on the logo to the left. The good news for Harrogate, though, is that the gap left by the Cranleigh Choral Week when it headed south has been taken over by a new course stretching over the summer bank holiday weekend plus a few days starting in August 2008. This new Harrogate Festival Choral Course comes with a musical staff well experienced in working with singers of all abilities and all ages so you can be assured of a warm welcome and lots of fun. For its first season, the main works to be performed will be Elgar's The Music Makers and Rutter's Magnificat in the recently refurbished Royal Hall in Harrogate. Find out more about this new course by clicking here or on the logo. ![]()
For another very good and highly recommended short course for those preferring a smaller chamber choir then maybe the ones organised by Helen Wills of Helicon Arts might be for you. Helen has run courses in the UK, France, Italy and Hungary. Take it from a few of us who have been in previous years, there's a lot of music to get through (mostly a cappella) and the going can get tough but it's very rewarding! The 2008 course returned to the UK, this time at Dalnagairn, a former hunting lodge in the Perthshire Glens and runs from 23rd-29th August. If you would like to find out more about the course and details of previous courses then click here or on the logo to the left. Handel's Messiah
Royal Albert Hall
December 2007Once again, our good friends in Goldsmiths Choral Union are inviting members of Wimbledon Choral Society to join them in their annual performance of this great work in the Royal Albert Hall - this year on Sunday 16th December 2007. This is not a "scratch" event but a fully rehearsed concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, first class soloists and a large enthralled audience. Please note that you are required to bring your own copy of the music (Watkins Shaw edition) and expected to attend 3 out of the 4 rehearsals as well as the final rehearsal on the day. GCU request you to make a 'participation donation' towards their admin costs and it is recommended that this be a minimum of £10. Details of rehearsal and performance dates, times and venue can be found by clicking here. If you are not familiar with singing the work then consider obtaining a rehearsal CD for your voice part from one of the suppliers noted on the Links page. Note that this is the day after our own Christmas concert in which you would be expected to participate.
