Over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May, some 90 members of the choir with quite a number of 'other halves' took part in the choir's first tour abroad - indeed its first real tour as a choir. Following a highly successful concert on the Sunday night to a full house in the church of St Paul's Within the Walls, we made our way over to St Peter's Basilica on the Monday afternoon and sang in the Mass at 1700. It was the most fantastic experience and we were thanked very warmly by the clergy and staff for our singing. They even let us line up on the altar steps for a few (large!) group photos.
The choir is deeply grateful to Christine Evans who masterminded and managed this highly successful trip, in collaboration with our wonderful agent in Italy, Angelo Morello. See what Stefano Sevrani, Director of the Nova Amadeus Orchestra in Rome, said about us.
This won't be the last such tour - that's for sure! |
